Amnesty International wants change to asylum seeker detainment - a podcast by RNZ

Amnesty International is accusing the New Zealand government of violating the human rights of some asylum seekers by detaining them alongside criminals - often for months or even years.
A report released this morning says at least 86 asylum claimants have been locked in police cells or prisons since 2015, with many of them unaware why they are there.
Amnesty International says people arriving in the expectation of finding safety are instead funnelled through a torrid system that directly contravenes UN conventions, before refugee status is granted.
Calling for immediate change is the organisation's executive director Meg de Ronde.
She spoke to Susie Ferguson.
