An Auckland councillor says the government's new rules to intensify housing development give council little room to maneuver.
Chris Darby believes the council will now have to significantly change its planning rulebook - the Auckland Unitary Plan - to allow for multi-storey buildings across the city.
He says, even with little wriggle room, residents must have their say. Council's draft plans of the changes are open for public consultation for the next three weeks.
Darby, who is chair of the council's planning committee, spoke to Corin Dann.
