To Europe now where diplomatic relations are set to be strained after Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko was accused of ordering a Ryanair flight from Greece to Lithuania to land in Minsk.
The aircraft was diverted and escorted into the Belarus capital after following initial claims that it had explosives on board, according to news agencies.
No explosives were found but a Belarusian opposition activist on board the plane was detained.
The incident has prompted international condemnation.
German correspondent Thomas Sparrow spoke to Corin Dann.
