Families of victims of the Pike River explosion have accepted official advice it will be unsafe and too expensive to go further into the mine.
Twenty-nine men lost their lives in the explosion in 2010, with the search for their remains the centre of an ongoing political battle.
The government last week announced it won't proceed further because of the expense.
Family Reference Group spokesperson Sonya Rockhouse told Corin Dann they had agreed with that advice by group vote last night, in what was a heart-breaking meeting.
