For the second time in a week Canterbury has been hit by gale force winds.
The worst of the weather hit last night.
Thousands lost power and have had to navigate fallen trees and road closures.
After the MetService sent out its red alert warning yesterday, farmers in Canterbury were battening down the hatches, securing anything loose and pointing irrigators downwind.
David Clark, a farmer in mid-Canterbury, spoke to Susie Ferguson.
