A crucial state highway route in the South Island, cut by Ashburton's flood-damaged bridge, is open for light vehicles but will close again on Wednesday morning.
The bridge closed on Tuesday morning when people reported slumping as they drove over it.
It reopened at 10pm that night after Waka Kotahi stress tested it with 14 tons of concrete blocks.
RNZ reporter Katie Todd spoke to Susie Ferguson from the bridge.
