Concerns over safety in Auckland's CBD have been raised after a man fired a gun in the lobby of the Sofitel in Auckland.
The police are declining interviews and have not released much detail.
Police Minister Poto Williams said she understands the shooting was related to a dispute between two gangs.
There were no injuries, but some hotel guests were evacuated, and dozens of armed officers responded.
It's another unnerving shooting in the CBD. In December, shots were fired at Dr Rudi's Rooftop bar on the Viaduct.
Viv Beck from Heart of the City spoke to Corin Dann.
