Essential workers have been given another week to provide proof they've undergone a Covid-19 test and can cross Auckland's boundary - and the delay has earned the ire of a leading epidemiologist.
Truck drivers had been told they'd need to carry evidence of a swab by this Friday if they were to be allowed to cross from alert level 4 into level 2.
That deadline has been pushed back to Friday of next week, when spot checks will begin.
The Ministry of Health says the delay provides time to "finalise arrangements" for the cross-boundary testing.
Otago University epidemiologist Michael Baker spoke to Morning Report.
