India's Covid-19 cases have passed 18 million, and recorded another world record number of daily infections - with a further 379,000 new cases reported yesterday.
Foreign aid has begun to arrive, but the situation faced across India is so severe that it will take some time for it to have any effect.
While there are some signs that the infection rate has dropped slightly in the major cities - the virus is being transmitted widely in rural areas.
Delhi-based health journalist Anoo Bhuyan and she told Morning Report there was little cause for optimism.
