A man who witnessed an act of protester-on-protester violence outside Parliament says he will not go near the site again.
Violent incidents at the occupation have increased this week.
On Tuesday a car tried to plough into a group of police, and faeces and another unknown substance have been flung at officers.
Several officers and protesters have been injured in clashes since police installed concrete bollards at the protest perimeter.
Self-styled protest intermediary, the former New Conservative leader Leighton Baker, received death threats from fellow protesters after failing to pass on a message about the police operation.
Meanwhile Michael - who does not want to be named over safety fears - lives in the CBD and works next to the cordon.
He says the initial scary vibe around the grounds at the start of the protest mellowed last week.
That all changed on Monday when he was walking past the packed food facilities on Molesworth Street about lunchtime.
He told RNZ reporter Hamish Cardwell what happened next - and a warning for listeners there are descriptions of violence.
RNZ has approached the Police for comment.
