The Salvation Army wants the Government to impose a freeze on rent increases to ease the burden of lockdown.
It says people who were already struggling with both food costs and housing security have been hit hard - especially in Auckland.
Inequalities in internet access mean many cannot shop online and those with children, who may rely on the healthy lunches programme in schools, are struggling to afford enough food for their tamariki.
Salvation Army policy analyst Ronji Tanielu spoke to Corin Dann.
