There were long queues at testing centres yesterday, particularly in Auckland, where more than 3000 people went through the stations wanting a Covid-19 swab.
Health officials struggled to keep up with the demand, and four new pop-up centres have been opened to help cope, and the permanent centres have extended their hours.
Reporter Jean Bell spoke to Guyon Espiner from the testing centre in Northcote.
