Preparation for the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine on the Chatham Islands is underway.
The remote archipelago lies about 800 kilometres east of Christchurch and is home to almost 700 people - 560 of whom are eligible for the jab.
A Canterbury DHB health official will board a plane to the territory on Monday, loaded with pamphlets and information about the vaccine for residents ahead of the planned rollout at the end of June.
Reporter Kate Gregan spoke with the DHB's Rural Health Services Manager Win McDonald, and asked her what she hopes to achieve on her pre-rollout excursion.
