The Government has announced its plan for vaccinating the population, with the hope most of the adults in NZ will have had their jabs by December this year.
It's leaving politicians working out how to approach vaccine hesitancy in the community, with one in five M?ori saying they would be worried about taking the vaccine.
M?ori Party co-leader Rawiri Waititi said he would be reluctant to tell M?ori to get vaccinated, as he believes the issue is about mana motuhake or self-determination.
"Mana motuhake is about everybody being able to freely make that choice," he said.
Associate Minister of Health Peeni Henare told Morning Report he thought Waititi's comments were "unhelpful".
"For my wh?nau, for example, mana motuhake is about protecting our wh?nau."
