Destiny Church leader Brian Tamaki has confirmed he has been charged with two offences following the anti-lockdown protest in Auckland.
In a statement last night, Mr Tamaki said he was surprised to visited by two police officers and charged for his role in organising Saturday's rally that drew more than one thousand people to Auckland Domain.
Police had earlier said a 63-year-old man had been summonsed to appear in court for breaching alert level three restrictions.
Mr Tamaki launched a defence of his actions in a written declaration, believing his actions were lawful, peaceful and consistent with the right to freedom of protest.
