A North Shore resident says he and his neighbours have had to deal with break-ins, robberies and vandalism since a nearby hotel started providing emergency housing.
There are growing calls for a major overhaul of the system under which grants are handed out for motels or other short-term accommodation.
Many have described it as dangerous, especially for vulnerable families, women and children.
A North Shore resident, Josh, told political reporter Katie Scotcher that it's no longer a safe place to live.
