The Auditor-General says government agencies must work together with Maori to reduce family and sexual violence.
In 2018, a joint venture was set up to bring government and community agencies together to tackle high rates of violence in kiwi homes.
Although some improvements had been made, Auditor-General John Ryan has found that the combined effort isn't working.
He's advised that significant time and effort is needed to achieve any meaningful change for at risk families.
Minister for the Prevention of Family and Sexual Violence Marama Davidson spoke to Philippa Tolley.
