Heavy rain has saturated the capital city Wellington early Monday morning.
The downpour is coming from the same weather system that hit the West Coast yesterday, where flooding temporarily closed State Highway Six.
MetService has issued orange heavy rain warnings for the centre of the country ranging from Marlborough in the South Island, through Wellington, Kapiti, Horowhenua, the Tararuas and Mount Taranaki in the North Island.
MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris spoke to Corin Dann.
