Major flooding across New South Wales and Queensland have forced thousands of people to evacuate their homes.
The torrential and unrelenting rain across the two states has lead to road closures, school shut-downs and lasting damage that could take months to fix.
For the first time in more than thirty years, Sydney's main reservoir has spilt over.
ABC reporter Ruby Cornish is in Penrith, just north of Sydney.
She spoke to Guyon Espiner.
