A collective of five prominent M?ori organisations is advising the government on how best to uphold the Treaty of Waitangi in the designing of new environmental laws. 
Te Wai M?ori, the Freshwater Iwi Leaders Group, the New Zealand M?ori council, K?hui Wai M?ori and the Federation of M?ori Authorities have come together to provide guidance on the repeal and replacement of the RMA. 
Its co-chair Rukumoana Schaufhaussen told our reporter Meriana Johnsen says it's a first for these groups to work together like this.
