The government will today announce changes to its much criticised MIQ system.
Thousands of New Zealand passport holders are trapped overseas, many having tried for months to get home.
One man, marine engineer Andrew Black, left for Australia last December for work. His wife has been living here alone while he has missed out on the new randomised lobby system five times.
RNZ has found the current lobby system for bookings is already being gamed by a third party group.
Black told RNZ MIQ reporter Katie Todd that the current system doesn't reflect people's situations.
