Whether it be training for the Olympics or simply learning to swim - Naenae Pool is full of fond memories for people, and soon they will be able to get their hands on a piece of that history.
The Olympic pool in the Lower Hutt suburb is going to be demolished and rebuilt - but before that happens the council is offering the chance to repurpose some of the orginal material or keep something as memorabilia.
Over the 65 years since it first opened it's been the training ground for some of New Zealand's top swimmers.
Phil Rush is just one of them, who swam a record breaking triple crossing of the English Channel.
He spoke to Susie Ferguson.
