The National Party has raised the possibility New Zealand could have avoided the Suhayra Aden situation if it had adopted Australia's law that strips terror suspects of citizenship.
Aden, who has links with ISIS, was born in New Zealand, but moved to Australia when she was six, and flew to Syria on an Australian passport in 2014.
The case became New Zealand's responsibility after Australia stripped Aden of her citizenship.
National Party leader Judith Collins spoke to Susie Ferguson.
