There are early signs the pandemic has had a bigger impact on NCEA results this year than last year.
School holidays begin at the end of today and Qualifications Authority figures show teenagers are ending the term with 93,000 fewer NCEA pass marks than at the same time in 2020.
Schools have reported 1.4 million achieved, merit and excellence results to the authority, six percent fewer than last year and 20 percent fewer than the same time in 2019.
