Universities have revealed a net loss of thousands of students this year.
The eight institutions have enrolled 9000 more New Zealanders, but they have lost about 14,000 foreign students.
Chris Whelan from Universities New Zealand told RNZ education correspondent, John Gerritsen, foreign enrolments have dropped by two-thirds since the same time last year.
