An initiative aimed at improving nurse staffing levels at public hospitals has been labelled not fit for purpose and unable to deliver on the intended outcomes.
The Care Capacity Demand Management Programme - also known as safe staffing - was introduced in 2009.
It received a $48 million government funding boost a decade later, but a review released yesterday reveals it's been implemented by just seven of the 20 district health boards.
Nurses Organisation acting chief executive Mairi Lucas spoke to Susie Ferguson.
