Around 70,000 New Zealanders have dementia - but that number is expected to balloon to about 170,000 within 30 years.
Health experts are warning that will put an unsustainable amount of pressure on our health system - to the tune of nearly $6 billion annually.
Alzheimer's New Zealand has a plan to tackle the wave of need - but the government hasn't adopted it yet.
