A masters surfing competition in Taranaki was forced to introduce a new age-group category over the long weekend - for its first contestant aged over 80.
Adrian Pickering of Whangaparaoa busted out of the "Immortals" section - for surfers aged 75 to 79 - into his very own, aptly named the "Improbables".
Taranaki Whanganui reporter Robin Martin dropped in at the Puniho Road break to take in the action.
