A new survey of teachers shows the pandemic is taking an increasingly heavy toll on them and their pupils.
Many teachers report their pupils' behaviour has deteriorated and teachers themselves are more tired and unhappier than they were last year.
About 1200 people, and more than 400 teachers responded to the Education Review Office survey.
It also paints a generally bleak picture of educational life in Auckland over recent months.
Education Review Office deputy chief executive Ruth Shinoda spoke to Susie Ferguson.
