Energy Minister Megan Woods expects petrol companies will also pass on related GST savings to consumers of around 4 cents a litre.
The Government yesterday cut the fuel tax by 25 cents a litre and told petrol companies to pass it on.
Prices do appear to have fallen this morning, with the cost per litre ranging between $2.70 and $3.10.
Woods told Morning Report that the government may need to make regulatory changes to make data on pricing from fuel companies publicly available.
She says the government had factored in climate concerns, by also halving the costs for public transport.
