The safety of the Thomas Phillips' children was front of mind in the local community over the past few weeks until their sudden return - alive and well - yesterday.
Before turning up at the family farmhouse in Marokopa yesterday morning, Thomas Phillips and his three young children, Jayda, 8, Maverick, 6, and Ember, 5, were last seen on Saturday 11 September.
They were reported missing the next day after his car was found on the beach at nearby Kiritehere.
Yesterday afternoon, local bus driver Lance Haupokia told RNZ reporter Robin Martin what the community's been thinking since the family went missing.
