A stoush over schools' ability to refuse to enrol violent children is taking a new turn.
The Principals Federation says it now has legal advice that suggests schools can refuse Education Ministry directives to enrol children who will make their workplace unsafe.
The federation's president Perry Rush says the Education Act does not trump the Health and Safety at Work Act. He spoke to Corin Dann.
The Education Ministry says it has not seen the legal advice. It says it only uses its power to direct an enrolment as a last resort.
