Retirement village residents have overwhelmingly told the Retirement Commissioner they want a review of the laws governing the sector.
The Commissioner Jane Wrightson is recommending the government urgently review the regulations, saying they risk becoming outdated and unable to protect consumers.
The call comes after a review of submissions on her white paper released late last year proposing the move.
Peter Carr is the president of the Retirement Villages Residents Association and says the rules are biased - favouring the operators - and in dire need of a shake up.
