Warning: This story contains distressing details.
Horrifying accounts of physical, sexual and mental abuse have been heard at the Royal Commission into Abuse in Care in Auckland.
One survivor said that he was raped more than 200 times while in a Social Welfare boys home in the 1970s.
Another was put into solitary confinement at nine years old and now, several decades on, still wakes up fearing he is back in a boys' home.
Reporter Andrew McRae heard the difficult testimony.
