Schools are worried the government plans to cap or rein in their enrolments of foreign students.
A draft statement on high-value international education says it doesn't want the eventual return of international students to put more pressure on the supply of housing and teachers or worsen inequalities between schools.
John van der Zwan from the Schools International Education Business Association told education correspondent John Gerritsen the draft document is worrying.
