The Teaching Council says it faces insolvency after losing a High Court battle.
The court has dismissed the council's recent shift to teachers having to renew their practising certificates every year - rather than every three years.
The council had warned that it faced significant financial problems if it lost the case, which was brought by teacher union, the Post Primary Teachers Association.
The court dismissed those fears, saying the government would likely continue to support the organisation.
Teaching Council board chair and principal of Spotswood College Nicola Ngarewa spoke to Susie Ferguson.
