The Employers and Manufacturers Association wants MIQ spaces freed up by the trans-Tasman bubble to be made available for critical skilled workers waiting to enter the country.
The government has indicated that more than 1000 rooms in MIQ could become available once the bubble opens on the 19th of April.
However some less suitable quaratine facilities could be closed down and Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins says he does not expect a large number of vacant quarantine spaces will be up for grabs.
