Kiwi sailing pair Peter Burling and Blair Tuke took silver in the 49er Olympic finals yesterday after a nailbiter race against Team GB.
It's their third Olympic medal, after having snatched gold at Rio 2016 and silver in the London 2012 Games.
But before they were Olympians and household names, Burling and Tuke were young sailors testing the water off Tauranga and Kerikeri.
Gary Smith is the former commodor of Tauranga Yacht Club, where Peter Burling began, and Derry Godbert was the coach of Blair Tuke at Kerikeri Cruising Club.
The pair spoke to Corin Dann.
