The Prime Minister has sought advice from officials about rich Russians investing here, in the wake of the country's invasion of Ukraine.
Several countries, including the UK, have put sanctions on wealthy Russians.
Jacinda Ardern told Morning Report she has asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade for advice.
"I've sought advice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on that, alongside all of the other options that we have, including additional measures that could be taken around our engagement at a diplomatic level."
Under current rules New Zealand cannot apply individual sanctions against a country.
Covid-19
Ardern said she has recieved advice about New Zealand's current border settings, as the number of cases of Covid-19 acquired domestically grows.
More is set to be revealed later today.
She said is confident the Omicron outbreak is tracking as expected.
"Hospitalisations themselves will often tell you whether you're missing cases. But, at the moment, we're not vastly out of whack with what we've seen around the hospitalisation rates in other countries.
"So, that gives you a bit of a sense that we're tracking in a way that is not necessarily unexpected."
