Patients who've had their surgery cancelled because of the cyber attack at the Waikato District Health Board are anxiously waiting to find out how big the disruption will be.
The ransomware attack struck early yesterday morning crashing all the IT systems including computers and phones and affecting Waikato, Thames, Tokoroa, Te Kuiti and Taumaranui hospitals.
It'll take days to fix although the Board insists it has the situation under control.
Most elective surgery has been postponed along with outpatient clinics and people have told to stay away from Emergency Departments if possible.
Kate Gregan reports.
