A coroner is warning women and doctors to take care over the combined oral contraceptive.
Two young women died 10 days apart in similar circumstances in 2021 after taking the pill.
But a women's health specialist says women are thirty times more likely to develop bloodclots when pregnant than when on the combined oral contraceptive.
Dr Orna McGinn is a clinical fellow of the University of Auckland specialising in women's health.
McGinn spoke to Corin Dann.
