Crews have been working overnight to patch up a two-metre-deep sinkhole in central Wellington.
Two lanes on Jervois Quay were closed after the sinkhole was discovered, and council workers uncovered a broken stormwater pipe from the early 1900s.
That follows a burst water main on Aro Street and a broken wastewater pipe at the intersection of Victoria and Mercer Streets in recent weeks.
Tom Williams is Wellington City Council's chief infrastructure officer.
