Phil found New Zealand's largest Matai yet, near Lake Kaniere, east of Hokitika, where he calls home. In the same year, 2019, he found New Zealand's biggest Kahikatea. Phil tells Kathryn Ryan his next search will be for a giant rimu in Milltown, which, he's been told, is immense.
