There is a growing recognition of the role of trauma, particularly childhood trauma or adverse childhood events on health and health outcomes. Family physician Audrey Stillerman joins Thomas Kim for a two-part series about ACEs and the effects they have on health, and what we as health professionals should know about them.

She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the UIC Department of Family Medicine. She is board-certified in both Family Medicine and Integrative Medicine; since 1991 she has been providing comprehensive care for the whole family, from babies to senior citizens

Dr. Stillerman serves as a steering committee member of the Illinois ACEs Response Collaborative and co-chair of its Health Committee as well as a co-investigator for a multi-site primary care ACE screening project.
