CPC leadership candidate Dr. Kellie Leitch is suggesting regular national referendums, which would be entirely citizen-driven and in which a simple majority would determine whether new legislation would be required to be introduced and passed by the federal government, or existing legislation amended. Opponents are ridiculing the idea.

However, in Switzerland such citizen-driven referenda have been constitutional for 700 years and the Swiss people regularly 'instruct' their government on legislation to introduce or amend. Recent votes included a stop to mass immigration, a denial of a national guaranteed income and a refusal to purchase new fighter jets.Guest: Luzi Stamm, Vice President of the Swiss People's Party and member of the Swiss federal government

-On Monday, the Electoral College in the U.S. will vote and decide who will 'officially' become the 45th President of the United States. Democrats and Liberals are attempting to persuade members of the College to not vote for Donald Trump, including an online ad by Hollywood celebrities. How will this most likely turn out?

Guest: Fran Coombs, managing editor of Rasmussen Reports-

In two weeks, Alberta will see its provincial carbon tax introduced and Ontario will implement its cap and trade scheme. The Trudeau government has also committed to a federal carbon tax. Canada's former federal Minister of Finance is not impressed and considers these initiatives, particularly now with the U.S. federal government under Donald Trump not opting for either a carbon tax or cap and trade, to be little more than a tax grab.Guest: Joe Oliver, federal minister of finance for Stephen Harper’s federal government

-How could the tragedy of Aleppo been avoided?

Guest: Colonel Peter Mansoor, former executive officer to General David Petraeus during the Surge in Iraq-

Roy is joined by the Beauties for a slightly extended year-ender Beauties and the Beast to discuss which stories had their attention over the past 12 months.Guests: Catherine Swift, Linda Leatherdale and Michelle Simson
