The upcoming Country Mile Race Series will be used to trial the reduction of whip usage in races. The series, consisting of five heats plus a final, will be exclusive to Victorian country trainers, and jockeys will be required to use their whip no more than five times throughout the entire race, which is a reduction to the current rules that allow riders to whip their mount five times before the 100-metre mark, with no restrictions thereafter
