"It's better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one, than to have an opportunity and not be prepared."

Les Brown

When COVID-19 swept across the world, "CANCELLATION season" began for a lot of people, including Kyle Masterson. This meant that the races he had been training for had been swept away amidst the chaos.

While the country and world panicked, Kyle continued to train as if an unknown opportunity was lurking around the corner.

After months of continued training and dedication to his craft, Kyle was granted an opportunity to show his drive and passion for the sport of running. On July 23rd, Kyle traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in an attempt to break the world record in the 50k that is 2:43.38.

Kyle was ahead of pace much of the race, but ultimately fell short of the record by roughly 60 seconds. Although he didn't reach his goal he is now the 4th fastest HUMAN BEING ever at that race distance.

In this episode we discuss

  • How he continued to train throughout Quarantine
  • How his race played out
  • His recent activity as an Elite coach for Chaski Endurance Collective
  • His racing plans for the upcoming months

Do not let 2020 cancel your ability to become mentally and physically as fit as you've ever been.
