Kings vs Jazz and Celtics 3/21/23: Kings drop 2 tough ones in back to back games - a podcast by Owen and Fong Legacy

The Kings pick up a tough loss in Utah against the Jazz. If you take out the 1st quarter, the Kings played a really good, high paced Kings style game. They got up and down the court and made a ton of 3s. But boy was the 1st quarter bad … The Kings got outscore 40-19 in the first quarter and were in a huge hole for much of the game. But they managed to dig themselves out of that hole to take the lead in 4th. And in the 4th, they were locked in a tight back and forth where the Jazz were able to get enough stops to win the game while the Kings couldn’t.

It’s a pretty bad loss to the Jazz who didn’t have Lauri, Jordan and Colin, but it’s also good to see the Kings have the fight in them to come all the way back down 25.

The Kings would unfortunately follow that up with a blowout loss to the Celtics in their 1st game back in the G1C. The Kings kept it close in the 1st half but came out flat to open the 2nd and were subsequently dominated by the Celtics. On the surface, it's a bad loss against a Championship contending team who just showed the Kings that there are levels to this game, and the Kings didn't look close to the Celtic's level.

But looking at it deeper, it’s hard to be that mad at this game considering it’s the 2nd night of a back to back and 1st game home after a long road trip against a well rested Celtics team that had been staying in Sacramento for the past few days. But regardless, the Kings were outclassed and it’s a really ugly loss that exposes some of the King’s big problems that have been masked by their offense.

This game probably doesn’t matter in the big picture this season since the Kings won’t face the Celtics in the postseason until they’re in the finals, but it does expose the Kings defense when their offense isn't running at max capacity. This is their 2nd loss in a row, the Kings haven't lost 3 in a row since November. Let's see if they can continue that trend against the Suns on Friday
