Kings vs Pelicans and Mavericks 4/5/23: Kings dominate the red hot Pelicans, but don't have enough to finish the Mavericks, Fong's Wrestlemania trip - a podcast by Owen and Fong Legacy

Kings go into New Orleans and avenge the stinker they had earlier this season in the Big Easy, and also wash the bad taste out of their mouth after the Spurs loss. After Coach Brown called them out for being soft on defense after the Spurs loss, the Kings came out with a higher level of intensity on that end this game. It wasn’t perfect, but the Kings were active, they took away the go to spots of the Pelicans, and they were physical. That increased intensity would keep them above water until they found their offense late in the 1st quarter and after taking the lead, they never looked back.

The Kings now officially clinch the Pacific Division title for the 1st time since 2003, another feather in the cap of what’s been an incredible season for the Kings.

The Kings however couldn't keep up the momentum as they add another disappointing loss to their record. Disappointing because the Mavs have been absolutely awful as of late. Disappointing because we saw that exact Mavs team in the 1st half, and the Kings were punking these guys. 

But the 2nd half started, the Kings started missing shots and the Mavs hit what felt like every shot. What was a 13 point lead at the start of the 3rd became a tie game at the start of the 4th. 

The Kings would regain their shotmaking in the 4th but carried by the brilliance of Kyrie Irving, they were able to outlast the Kings. That plus some costly turnovers doomed the Kings as well as running out of gas on a 2nd night of a back to back.

The Kings have 2 more games left on the season and they will have to win both to get to 50 wins on the season. Let's see if they can get into the playoffs with some momentum.
