Kings vs Pelicans and Spurs 3/3/22 Postgame - a podcast by Owen and Fong Legacy

The Kings go into New Orleans and unfortunately get the smack down laid on them by Pelican in the Smoothie Kings Center. The Kings played a good first half but an offense drought in the 3rd stymied the Kings and the Pels were just oh so happy to take advantage of it and pummel the Kings most likely out of the Play-In race. It was an ugly 30 point loss that was only compounded by the fact they had flight delayed later in the night forcing them to stay in New Orleans for the night and flying to San Antonio in the morning for 2nd game of a back to back.

It was probably a restless night for the Kings and it's a built in excuse for them to come out flat and get punked by the Spurs. But that was not the case, the Kings came out strong and punched the Spurs in the mouth to open the game. They were able to build on that and get a sizable lead on the Spurs for much of the game. The Spurs would cut into the lead in the 2nd half and even took it in the 4th but the Kings were able to outplay them down the stretch to secure a big win against a Play-In adversary. 

This Kings team has fight in them, they could've just phoned it in after the travel issues left them most likely sleep deprived and fatigue but they decided to fight through it and just play basketball. The Kings have 17 games left in the season and it's a murder's row of opponents, so the likelihood of them making the Play-In is a long shot even for the biggest of optimists. But the Kings playing for something bigger, and win or lose these games they need to make all these games mean something in the long run. Let's see how the home stretch of this season plays out.
